Portuguese football icon, Cristiano Ronaldo, has named four players who may dominate the most prestigious football award in the world, the Ballon d’Or.
Note that Cristiano Ronaldo was excluded from the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist for the second consecutive time earlier this month.
The last time Ronaldo won the prestigious award was in 2017. In 2018, he was ranked second in the final power rankings, and in 2019, he finished in third place.
With a new recipient set to be awarded at the ceremony in Paris on October 28, Ronaldo shared his thoughts on potential future winners on his YouTube channel UR Cristiano.
He suggested that Kylian Mbappe could win the Ballon d’Or in the coming years, with Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior also being potential contenders.
Additionally, he mentioned Lamine Yamal as another player to keep an eye on for the award.
“Kylian Mbappe can win the Ballon d’Or in the next few years, probably [Erling] Haaland [and Jude] Bellingham as well”, the 39-year-old Portuguese football legend said.
Rio Ferdinand, who was on the set with Ronaldo, reminded the five-time Ballon d’Or winner about “Vinicius Junior”. And then, the Portuguese forward added, “Also, Lamine Yamal.”
Furthermore, Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, expressed his admiration for his former club, Real Madrid, labelling the side as the best club in the history of football.
“Real Madrid is the best club ever in history”, Ronaldo said on his YouTube channel according to @MadridXtra.
Note that Ronaldo made a total of 438 appearances across various competitions for Real Madrid, scoring a club-record 450 goals between 2009 and 2018.
