\nDrivers can expect plenty of detours this weekend, especially those in the East End. 
If you’ve got weekend plans that involve driving through Montreal, you might want to reroute.
The Tour de l’Île and Tour la Nuit are rolling through the city this weekend, and more than 70 street closures are planned between Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
Organized by Vélo Québec, the Tour de l’Île has been one of Montreal’s biggest cycling events since 1985, transforming major streets into car-free routes for riders of all ages. The weekend also includes Tour la Nuit — a nighttime ride known for its lights, costumes, and party vibe.
The closures begin Friday, May 30, with the 26th edition of Tour la Nuit. From 7:30 p.m. to midnight, streets in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie and Saint-Léonard will be blocked off for the 21 km ride. The route starts and ends at Parc Maisonneuve, looping through a perimeter bordered by Beaubien Street, Viau Boulevard, Langelier Boulevard, and Henri-Bourassa Boulevard.
Then on Sunday, June 1, the main event — the Tour de l’Île de Montréal — will shut down over 40 local and major roads across the east end from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The affected area spans from Pie-IX Boulevard all the way to the island’s eastern tip, between Gouin Boulevard in the north and Notre-Dame Street in the south.

Montreal-Est and Pointe-aux-Trembles will be especially impacted, with some southern parts of those boroughs fully cut off except for access via the Jean-Baptiste-Legardeur Bridge heading toward Repentigny.
Parking restrictions will also be in place for both events. The city warns that vehicles not respecting posted signs risk being towed and fined up to $197.
People who want to use public transportation should visit the STM website for real-time updates on bus detours and metro schedules.
Streets will reopen progressively throughout the weekend as the course progresses.
