
A moped driver who was asked to stop by police in the early hours of the morning instead led them on a chase through Preston.
Officers worked in Ashton-on-Ribble signalled for a moped to stop at around 3am this morning (4 June) with the driver refusing to do so and ‘leading officers on a pursuit through the area’.
The moped was stopped in the Larches area later. A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A spokesperson for police said: “Shortly before 3am this morning, our officers signalled for a moped to stop in the Ashton area of Preston. The moped didn’t stop, instead leading our officers on a pursuit through the area.
“The moped was later stopped in the Larches area, and a 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Dangerous Driving.”
In other incidents dealt with by police this week, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery after stealing items and threatening shop staff with a knife.
A 29-year-old man was arrested after giving a positive roadside drug wipe for cannabis on New Hall Lane.
Two men were arrested on on suspicion of theft of a vehicle at around 10am yesterday (3 June) after police spotted and pursued a BMW. The car was located later and a taxi was stopped with the two men inside.
