After nearly 40 years at the helm of Vogue, Anna Wintour is stepping down from her role as editor.

The 75-year-old fashion powerhouse, who became editor-in-chief in 1988, will vacate her position later this year, according to reports.

Wintour, whose signature bob and sunglasses became emblematic of her influence, has long been regarded as one of the most powerful figures in global fashion. She will continue to serve as Condé Nast’s global chief content officer and as Vogue’s global editorial director.

Under Wintour’s leadership, Vogue solidified its status as the definitive voice in fashion media. From curating unforgettable Met Gala themes to commanding front-row seats at Fashion Week, her presence shaped the industry’s landscape for decades. The search for her successor is expected to begin soon.
