Hundreds of people are celebrating Preston’s chicken heritage on the Flag Market this Wednesday lunchtime.
KFC fans have queued to claim a free limited-edition KFC x SpudBros jacket potato.
The 600 free spuds are being dished up as the fried chicken chain marks 60 years since the first KFC outlet outside of North America opened – right here in Preston.

Setting up on the Flag Market there’s also original KFC menus and uniforms in a display about the Colonel’s heritage along with live entertainment.
Assistant manager for the KFC restaurant in Fishergate, Roz Eccles, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to celebrate KFC’s 60th anniversary here at Fishergate, where it all started back in 1965.
“Having worked at the store for 30 years, and living in Preston all my life, I’ve seen firsthand how much our community and customers have always remained at the heart of everything we do.
“That’s why it is brilliant to be able to share our celebrations with the people of Preston, as thank you for their continued support.”
The queue was stretching across the Flag Market for attending the KFC-themed SpudBros fan when Blog Preston visited as the event began around 12noon.

Mayor of Preston, councillor Sue Whittam, said: It’s great that KFC has been a committed part of the Preston community for the last 60 years, bringing jobs and opportunities to the area while also supporting our communities throughout the North West with events like this.”
The KFC pop-up event is on until around 3.30pm today (Wed 4 June).
