A busy road between Ashton-on-Ribble and Preston Docks is to be closed for a week at the end of July.

And motorists are also being warned of disruption at the Pedders Lane junction in Riversway as resurfacing work takes place.

The Pedders Lane crossroads by the McDonalds at the Docks has seen a number of crashes in recent years and has seen new traffic lights put in.

Director of highways and transport at the county council, Matt Townsend, confirmed the plans.

He said: “There are currently surface dressing works on Watery Lane between Pedders Lane and Port Way.

“In addition, Pedders Lane will be closed between Watery Lane/Riversway to Whinfield Lane from July 21 until 27, while work is undertaken to replace electricity cables.

“Following this, Watery Lane at the junction of Pedders Lane will be closed between 8pm and 5am from 28 July until 7 August for carriageway resurfacing of the signalised junction.”
