Justin Bieber had a surprise in store for fans on Thursday evening, when he announced he would be releasing his first full-length album in four years within a matter of hours.
The Grammy winner’s new release, titled Swag, premiered in the early hours of Friday morning, consisting of 20 new songs, including collaborations with rappers Lil B and Sexxy Red and gospel singer Marvin Winans.
Swag follows an interesting period in the As Long As You Love Me singer’s life and career, during which he has repeatedly shut down various rumours about his personal life, and raised eyebrows with a number of public appearances and Instagram posts.
One such incident took place last month, when he was filmed confronting a paparazzi photographer and telling him: “You’re not getting it. It’s not clocking to you. It’s not clocking to you that I’m standing on business, is it?”
Prior to that, another confrontation with the paparazzi saw Justin telling them: “You just want money. Money, money, money, money, money, money. Get out of here, bro. Money. That’s all you want. You don’t care about human beings.”
While Justin and his wife Hailey Bieber have used the former speech to help promote Swag on social media, the latter clip is even sampled in the intro for the new song Butterflies.

Promo photos for Swag – which have popped up on billboards the world over in the last 24 hours – feature both Justin and Hailey posing with their 10-month-old son Jack.
Swag marks Justin’s first new music since the release of his 2021 EP Freedom, which premiered just one month after his previous album Justice.
It’s also the Canadian performer’s first release to come out since parting ways with his long-time manager Scooter Braun, to whom he had been signed since the early years of his career, when he was still a teenager.
