Another day, another celebrity enjoying summer in Montreal. And this time, it’s none other than Neil Patrick Harris.
The actor and entertainer is in town for reasons that aren’t entirely clear, but he’s clearly loving it here. On Monday, Harris shared a photo dump on Instagram showing how he rang in his 52nd birthday — and it looks like it was one to remember.
To celebrate, the How I Met Your Mother star and his crew visited Immersia and Escaparium in Laval, two local escape game spots known for their elaborate, story-driven rooms.
“Escape Room Birthday in Montreal! What an extraordinary way to start a new year, with great friends in some of the best escape rooms ever made,” he wrote.
Harris gave both local spots high praise, thanking them for their “creativity and ingenuity” and saying they’ve “truly redefined what escape rooms can accomplish.” He even gave his group a name: Team Neilscape52.
Afterward, the New Mexico native headed downtown for dinner at Au Pied de Cochon, Montreal’s over-the-top palace of foie gras and Québécois comfort food. He called the whole birthday experience “an extraordinary way to start a new year.”
Turns out that wasn’t his only foodie stop. A few weeks earlier, local chef Antonio Park shared a photo with Harris after he dropped by his namesake restaurant in Westmount for a meal. “An amazing soul,” Park wrote in his caption.
NPH, who hosted a Just for Laughs gala here back in 2015, joins a growing list of Hollywood names making stops in the city this summer. Russell Crowe was spotted grabbing tacos in Saint-Henri in June, and Ben Stiller made the rounds during Grand Prix weekend.
As Harris put it, Montreal is “one of my favourite cities in the world.”
Seems like the feeling is mutual.
