Three men have been arrested after a man was attacked and robbed in Preston city centre.

Preston Police confirmed a trio have now been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

It follows a police appeal in late June asking for help to identify two men they wanted to speak to.

A man in his 40s was attacked near a cash machine outside Nationwide in Lune Street at 3am on Sunday 25 May.

A mobile phone and bank card were taken and the man was attacked for a second time outside Matalan. He was left with injuries to his face and ribs.

A police spokesperson confirmed to Blog Preston three men had now been arrested following the appeal.

A 19-year-old man from Cottam was arrested on suspicion of robbery and fraud by false representation.

A 24-year-old man from Ribbleton was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

A 20-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of robbery and fraud by false representation.

They have all been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The police thanked the public and media for sharing their appeal.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or was driving in the Lune Street area and has dashcam footage is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 0189 of 25 May or email 956@lancashire.police.uk
