A football fundraiser hosted at Fulwood Amateurs raised £7800 for two charities that support children and young people.
The donated funds were raised towards Freddie’s Sunshine, which directly helps bereaved families after child loss, and Creative Space Centre, who provide sensory support for those with additional needs.
The July event brought together forty players and supporters, including the team at Fulwood Amateurs, Freddie’s Sunshine, Creative Space, and a local family.
Jan de Jong, who, along with his family, planned the fundraiser, said: “Last year we all raised over £8700 for both Freddie’s sunshine and Alzheimer’s society, since both charities have close connections to all involved with the event.
“However, this year, we decided to raise money again for Freddie’s Sunshine, a charity set up by Mark and Aimee Beaumont, following the sudden death of their beloved son.
“Regarding creative space, all of us couldn’t think of a better charity to raise money for in the local area. The care and support the team provide for individuals, parents, and schools is fantastic, and I do hope they carry on for many years to come.”
The donation cheque was issued to the two charities at the Creative Space, in Ashton on Ribble, on 3 August and supported by event sponsors, Hurstwood Holdings and Unique Porsche.
