A new look tram for the SpudBros is hoped to be in operation before Christmas.
The jacket potato duo won planning permission in early July for their new shopping-container design after being hauled before Preston City Council’s planning committee to explain their concept.
After surviving a potato-pun ladened grilling from councillors they received full backing and have been working with their contractors on the new still portable tram design.
Spudfather, Tony Nelson, told Blog Preston: “It’s expected to be ready for the end of November. FSW Gas services Ltd have started fabrication and we catch up every week to chart progress.
“This exciting build has been made possible thanks to the incredible support and collaboration of so many talented local people. From designers and builders to suppliers and creatives, the project has been a true community effort – and the results are set to blow people away.
“The new SpudBros Tram promises to be more than just a food destination. With its striking design and buzzing atmosphere, it’s expected to draw even more footfall into the city, giving locals and visitors alike another reason to stop, explore, and enjoy everything the area has to offer.
“We couldn’t be more excited. This is about more than SpudBros – it’s about building something fresh, fun, and unique for the city, with the help of some amazing local talent. We can’t wait for everyone to see it.
“The SpudBros Tram container build will officially open in December marking a milestone moment for the brand and the community it calls home.”
The new SpudBros base is also due to include a mural – which can be updated to reflect events in the city or times of year – and the brothers have committed to ensuring the potato van is shifted when major events such as Remembrance are on.
