A new darts shop which aims to tap into the growing popularity of the game will open at Preston Grasshoppers on Saturday, 25 October.

Based in Lightfoot Lane, Fulwood, the store is being spearheaded by Steve Eaves, who is the owner of Red Rose Darts.

Steve, whose business trades as the Darts Team, said: “On Saturday, 25 October, we will be opening a brand new darts shop and community hub in Fulwood. We are located within Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Club and are bringing something very unique to the city.”

Having started life as a part-time business that went round pubs and clubs in Preston selling darts, Blog Preston reported on Steve’s endeavours three years ago as his passion for darts saw his business start to take flight.

Offering a premium retail experience for darts fans across the city, the venue will also be hosting other activities such as dedicated darting lane hire; darts themed maths sessions for schools across the Preston area; weekly social darts sessions for retired people where they can socialise and play darts; and dedicated darts sessions for young people and adults with special educational needs.

Steve is also aiming to open a youth academy where he might unearth the next Luke Littler – the 18-year-old world darts champion who has supercharged the game’s meteoric rise in recent years.

Steve added: “I am a professionally qualified darts coach and am looking forward to working with young darts players from across the city. The academy will be based in our venue and can accommodate up to 24 young darts players, with weekly sessions and regular tournaments.

“Preston is a hot bed of darts and we are excited to give young people from Preston an opportunity to develop and realise their darting dreams.”
