Dean of the university’s business school professor Steven Rhoden said: “Digital transformation and entrepreneurship are vital to Lancashire’s future economic resilience and growth. The Lancashire Local Skills Improvement Plan highlights the increasing digital demands across all sectors and the need to embed employer-led innovation into local skills provision.

“The appointment of Professors Trovati, Binns and Barker bring to the Business School three talented leaders to power our ambition to support students and regional businesses to succeed and grow.”

Binns, who will continue other roles including as board member of the Preston Partnership group and chair of the Lancashire early-stage investment board, said: “The University plays a pivotal role in bringing education and business together, with the Business School connecting students with the private sector in a way that creates jobs, sparks new ideas and strengthens the local economy. I’m really looking forward to this new challenge.”
