Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba says the current challenges in the SAPS shouldn’t be used to take the services of officers for granted. She was speaking at the police awards’ presentation ceremony in Polokwane.

The Madlanga Commission and Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee are conducting separate inquiries into the alleged infiltration of criminal syndicates in the justice system.

Nonetheless, Ramathuba says the services of police officers should be appreciated.

“Do we take these men and women for granted? We never take time to pause and say thank you for keeping us safe. We do have challenges, and we see what is currently happening in the country within the South African Police Service. There is no special way that we can say thank you to our police officers than by having to do these awards.”
