Three workers at Garstang’s Dewlay Cheesemakers have celebrated an incredible hat trick of long service and dedication to the business.
Three stalwarts of the business – Andy Davis, Roger Taylor and Stephen Roskell have each hit 40 years’ service at Dewlay Cheesemakers.
Starting their careers under the watchful eye of founder George Kenyon, they began working at the original site on Green Lane West before being a part of the move to the present site on Garstang Bypass Road under the leadership of Neil Kenyon.

They have observed firsthand the transition between the three generations of the Kenyon family, now under the guiding hands of Nick and Richard Kenyon.
Maintenance engineer Andy started on the factory floor in a team of 12, turning his hand to anything maintenance threw at him. From laying the footings of the dairy back in 1997 to helping install this year’s automated packing kit, he’s literally built parts of the place with his own hands.
Roger’s journey began at the vats beside George and Neil, two early driving forces in the dairy. After a short spell as delivery driver, Neil spotted his talent and brought him back to cheesemaking – a move that eventually saw Roger become head cheesemaker, mentoring the next generation.
For Stephen – better known as Rocky – he moved from the cheesemaking tables to leading milk processing. Starting at 1am, he’s the one who ensures every drop is pasteurised before the day even begins.
Current owners Nick and Richard Kenyon said: “On behalf of the generations of Kenyons that have gone before us, we doth our cap and say a massive thank you for everything Andy, Roger and Stephen have done over the last 40 years.
“They are a massive part of the history of Dewlay and great businesses are built on the back of hardworking and honest people like them.”
