A man has been charged after turning up to a pub in Lostock Hall with an axe.

Police were called to the Pleasant Retreat on Watkin Lane at 10.03pm on Friday (31 October) to reports of a man with a weapon.

Police attended and arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Stuart McFarlane, 48, of Central Park Road, Lostock Hall, was charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on 2 December.
