Over-running flood defence works in Broadgate are still on track to be completed by Christmas.

The Environment Agency released pictures of concrete panels being lifted into position on the section of new flood wall near Miller Gardens.

The section near the apartment blocks has been shut off since 2022 when work began with sporadic reopening.

Last year it was announced proposals to complete the section by Christmas 2024 would be missed and it would take 12 months longer than planned due to ‘challenging riverbank conditions’.

The 19 pre-cast concrete flood wall panels are now being lifted into position ready for the Miller Gardens section to be completed before the end of this year.

In September the Environment Agency announced the stretch of Riverside, between the Continental pub and Miller Gardens, would miss the December deadline for completion.

A different piling method is being used due to the riverbank section and this means work will not be complete until Spring 2026.
