Longridge based dog groomers Bruce & Co has been shortlisted as a finalist for ‘Best New Business’ at the UK Small Business Awards 2025.
Lauren, 25, launched Bruce & Co dog grooming on 6 September 2025 in the heart of Longridge, based in the well-known Pristine Pooches on Derby Road.
The business was named after Lauren’s phantom toy poodle, Bruce. Lauren said: “He is my soul dog and the one who has helped me develop the love and passion I’ve got for dog grooming. He is my side kick & best friend who I’d be lost without.”
Lauren’s love for animals began long before she opened the business. After leaving school in 2017, she knew she wanted to work with animals and spent years exploring different areas of the animal industry.
She has worked in a veterinary practice, doggy daycares and RSPCA Preston and District branch helping to rehabilitate and re-home dogs and cats.
Lauren said: “During lockdown in 2021, I picked up a pair of grooming clippers for the first time to practice with my own two poodles – and that moment completely changed my career path.”

Since then, her journey has included a move abroad for the past two-and-a-half years which included plenty of challenges, and a lot of learning along the way – but it’s led her right to where she’s meant to be.
Lauren provides a calm, loving and fear-free grooming experience designed to help dogs feel comfortable and cared for. She said: “My focus is on creating a positive experience and building trust with every dog who comes through the door.”
Now, her positive approach is being recognised nationally, she said: “This nomination feels like such a milestone – not just for me, but for everyone who has supported Bruce & Co so far.”
There are tens of thousands of entries from across the UK, Lauren said: “Being recognised as a finalist is such an incredible honour and a testament to the hard work, love, and passion that’s gone into building the business.

“From our amazing clients to the wonderful dogs I care for every day, I’m so grateful for how far we’ve come in such a short time. My friends and family have been so supportive and pushed me to make this leap which I’m so grateful for.”
