Five businesses have given their backing to one of the city’s oldest charities.

Lenehan Scaffolding, Group55, Kennedy Ross, Odd Chair Company and the Cotton Court Business Centre have all become a friend to the Foxton.

And they are urging fellow businesses in and around Preston to commit to a £100-a-month donation for the next year to help support the Foxton’s work with young people, rough sleepers and families in the city.

Robert Binns, a trustee of the Foxton and the boss of Cotton Court who are one of the businesses to sign up, said: “It is a no-brainer for me – together, we can transform lives.

“Foxton has played such an important role in the heart of Preston for decades, and it is my privilege to make sure it can continue to do so.”

Funding from businesses goes to their extensive youth work programme operated from the new Avenham base which opened this summer and also to help with the charity’s homelessness work centred around the Day Centre in Fox Street.

Chief executive of Foxton, Cath Coffey, said: “Donations are the lifeline that keeps Foxton standing strong for Preston’s most vulnerable. Alongside these donations, our funding comes from a mix of grants from charitable organisations and government – which is never guaranteed and subject to changing policies and priorities.

“We need Preston’s businesses to stand behind us and ensure we can continue working with some of the city’s most vulnerable residents for generations to come.”

Businesses can find out more about becoming a Friends of the Foxton via the Foxton’s website, by calling 01772555925 or email info@thefoxton.org
