Families with newborn babies being looked after in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are set to now have an upgraded private safe space at Royal Preston Hospital.
Made in honour of the late Ted Roocroft, who passed away only four weeks after his birth, the room was funded by a cycle event.
After the passing of their son in 2022, Dave and Hayley began fundraising for Baby Beat to remodel and redecorate the room.

Raising over £27,704.75 for Baby Beat, just under £10,000 contributed to the Bubble Room, made to support families like Dave and Hayley Roocroft, Ted’s parents.

Hayley said: “We think the room looks great. We were kept updated on its progress. We are very grateful to everyone who has taken part in Ted’s (bike) Ride and everyone who has helped us to fundraise. ”
The room was designed to support the guidelines recommended by pregnancy and baby loss charity SANDS, within their National Bereavement Care Plan.
Joanna Allitt, fundraising manager for Baby Beat, said: “Dave and Hayley’s fundraising for Baby Beat has been phenomenal. They have been so selfless and generous in their support of others families facing the same or similar situation to the one they found themselves in.
“Many Trusts still do not have specific rooms for families to use as quiet rooms to draw strength from one another, to talk to specialist clinicians and receive bereavement support following a diagnosis.”
