A Preston videographer has put the whole county in its best light with a special video released last month for Lancashire Day.
Rory Cocker – who runs Preston Pulse – was commissioned by the BBC and Marketing Lancashire to create the ‘This is Lancashire’ short video.
The clip has been viewed more than 67,000 times so far and saw Lancashire Day trend on X for a number of hours on Thursday 27 November.
Marketing and partnerships director for Marketing Lancashire, Vikki Harris, said: “Lancashire has always been a ‘Grand Day Out’. A place to make unforgettable memories with family and friends, full of impressive landmarks, beautiful locations and fun-filled attractions that generations enjoy and love together. This Lancashire Day, we wanted to remind people of the beauty of the region and how much can be seen and visited, often without as many crowds and large entry fees as the ‘dupes’ they are compared to.
“This is Lancashire is our way of highlighting just some of the incredible attractions and stunning scenery that can be found in the region, and it was a pleasure to work on this alongside BBC Radio Lancashire. I was so proud to see the work on screen and to be a part of the celebration of amazing Lancashire locals at the Make a Difference Awards in September.”
Rory’s creation saw him criss-cross the country to capture not just Preston but all corners of Lancashire and check the weather forecast for a sunny day.
He told Blog Preston: “After spending the last few years in the world of Event Management, I only made the conscious decision to pursue videography as a career at the start of 2025, really. So, to have the BBC knocking on my door after just three months was quite surreal.
“They saw the “This Isn’t London…” video I did on Preston Pulse which went viral earlier this year, and loved it so much that they wanted to do one for the whole of Lancashire.
“It was an honour to be asked, to travel to all of these beautiful places and make this film – it’s a real privilege. I feel very lucky that I get to do this sort of thing as a job, and I hope I did the county (and Preston!) proud in the final video.”
