The popular St Walburge’s Church Spire at Night tours are back after a two-year break.

The Ashton-on-Ribble church will host visitors on Saturday 10, Saturday 17, and Saturday 24 January.

Those with a head for heights will be able to ascend the 309ft (94m) high spire, which is the third tallest in the UK, and the tallest on a parish church.

The tower contains a single bell of 31 cwt (1.5 tonnes) cast by Mears and Stainbank of Whitechapel, the heaviest swinging bell in Lancashire.

On a clear night visitors will have a view of Preston and the surrounding countryside as far as Blackpool.

The times of access are 4pm to 5.45pm. Tickets cost £12 and can be purchased on TicketTailor, with proceeds going towards the church restoration project.
