Tributes continue to pour in following the death of former African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) member and Member of Parliament Dikeledi Magadzi.
Magadzi passed away on Sunday at the age of 75. She served as Deputy Minister in two portfolios, Transport and the Water and Sanitation Departments.
Before her role in the ANC NEC, Magadzi led various provincial departments in Limpopo as MEC.
Family spokesperson Edgar Mushwana describes her as someone who had a healthy relationship with people around her. Mushwana says she also played a crucial role in the formation of branches of labour union, Nehawu.
“She was politically active in the underground structures of the ANC. She was also very active member of Federation of Transvaal Women, a forerunner of the women’s league at the time, so she was in that structure and other structures of the UDF. She also was a founding member, together with her husband and a few other comrades from what we call the far north region there, who started the first Nehawu branch in the area.”
ANC Deputy Provincial Chairperson Comrade Florence Radzilani led an ANC delegation to the home of the late ANC leader Comrade Dikeledi Magadzi in Bendor, Polokwane, this afternoon to pay respects and express solidarity with the family following her passing.

But before you get too excited about endless blue skies and sunny stretches, you might want to brace for a few more storms.

According to long-range data from the 2024–2025 Farmers' Almanac, August will be warmer than usual in southern Quebec, with average daytime highs around 20 °C, which is about a degree above normal. That said, the month is also expected to bring above-average precipitation — around 120 mm total, or roughly 25 mm more than usual.

The Almanac uses a centuries-old blend of astronomical and mathematical data to make long-term weather predictions

Here's how southern Quebec's August forecast is shaping up, according to The Farmers' Almanac

The Farmers' Almanac's August forecast

August 1st to 3rd

Good weather.

August 4-7

Thunderstorms, then a return to generally mild weather.

August 8-11

Heavy showers and some isolated violent thunderstorms are possible, then sunny spells.

August 12 to 15

Pleasant weather.

August 16-19

Thunderstorms, then back to good weather.

August 20-23

Clear skies, then unstable weather with showers.

August 24-27

Generally nice and warm.

August 28 to 31

The heat persists.

If the forecast holds, Quebecers can expect a warm but occasionally wet end to the season. Still, don't be surprised if things flip quickly — this year's weather has been anything but predictable.

You can read the Almanac's full summer forecast here.

Love this?
