Cuerden Valley Park is bidding for a new Heritage Skills Academy as they aim to become a regional hub for heritage land management training.
The independent charity wants to restore lost land management skills and expand its volunteer programme.
A wooden longhouse, workspace, and accommodation for residential training will be incorporated into the academy as an application to the National Heritage Lottery Application has been made.

Producing their own materials and using conventional skills can help them reduce costs as they receive no government or local authority funding.
The academy will be the first phase of becoming a regional hub.
The bid is expected to happen in February, and it would take a couple of years to get it up and running.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “To better maintain the park the Trustees and staff team seek to create a more sustainable, environmentally friendly method of managing our green space via the reintroduction of traditional landscape management practices.
“These techniques have fallen into decline in recent years with much knowledge being lost.
“Placing them at the heart of our management and maintenance programme will demonstrate their renewed value and preserve the techniques and knowledge.”
This is the last week local people can have their say on the matter through a Google Form on their Facebook page.
Anyone who fills in the form will be entered into a draw for a £30 voucher for Cuerden View Cafe.
