Day visits to the Kruger National Park will resume on Monday. This after the park’s authorities put restrictions in place following the heavy rains that affected Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

In a statement, SANParks Spokesperson JP Louw says the northern part of the park will remain closed.

This is because several roads and bridges have been washed away.

Kruger National Park has launched a relief fund to rebuild the damaged infrastructure in the park.

Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Minister Willie Aucamp made the announcement after flying over the park to assess the extent of the damage caused by the heavy rainfall.

He says the fund will be managed by an independent auditor.
