The Original Factory Shop in Garstang is preparing for the worst as the firm officially entered administration.
Blog Preston reported at the start of the month how the firm’s stores in Garstang and Clitheroe were facing an uncertain future after the discount retailer fell into administration, putting more than 1,000 jobs at risk nationwide.
The chain, which has a visible high street presence in Lancashire including Garstang, Clitheroe and Lancaster, was acquired in February by investment firm Modella Capital.

Despite what it described as ‘last-ditch attempts’ to rescue the business, Modella confirmed that administration was now the only viable option.
Posting on the Garstang shop’s Facebook page, the team said: “Dear customers, we have been getting a lot of questions in store in regards to what is currently happening with the original factory shop.
“Since we have had an update yesterday now seemed a good time to let people know rather than leaving it to gossip.
“Yesterday (28 January) we officially entered administration. While there is still a small slither of hope that we could be saved, we are preparing ourselves for the worst.
“We will be starting to hold a closing down sale starting today and we ask that you please support us as if sales aren’t as high as expected we have been told that we could be gone a lot sooner.
“This is a very sad time for us as a team and we ask that you please be respectful when asking us questions in regards to the store closing as we currently don’t have an answer but when we do we will update you.
“Many thanks for all the years of your support.”
The Clitheroe store is facing a similar fate to its Garstang counterpart as both face an uncertain future.
