A financial planning firm are preparing to take on the Big PNE Sleep Out for the first time.

Amber River True Bearing, headquartered in Chorley, are sending an eight-strong team to put numbers aside for a night and continue their charitable activities.

Previous charity efforts have included walk-a-thons or fitness challenges but marketing manager Jayne Raven said this was ‘a different type of challenge for the team.”

“Having the pleasure of helping provide Christmas presents for the families they work with. The team visited the centre and saw first-hand the hard work and support they provide to the Preston community.

“Following this, we wanted to help further, and when we heard about The Big PNE Sleep Out, we knew the team would love to be involved.”

Those taking part have heard from the Foxton about the impact of hidden homelessness in Preston.

Jayne said: “We understand how lucky we are not to be directly affected by homelessness here in our office near Chorley. However, we feel the services offered at the Foxton Centre, particularly for Women, Children and Teens, are invaluable.

“Those experiencing hidden homelessness live out of sight in hostels, squats, and temporary accommodation, even sofa-surfing with family and friends. Although they may have a roof over their heads, they don’t have access to safe, secure and settled housing.

“The Foxton Centre not only helps with the community’s immediate needs for shelter, food, and practical help, but also tackles the causes of hidden homelessness. Supporting vulnerable women, offering a safe, welcoming space and outreach services.”

Those taking part are John Addis, Georgia Reilly, Leah Hinchcliffe, Mike Hawthorne, John Addis, Giselle Clayton, Jen Lancaster and Mike Hawthorne.

They’ve so far raised £400 towards their £800 target and donations can be made via their Justgiving page.

Places are still available if you and/or your organisation want to take on the Big PNE Sleep Out at Deepdale. You can register via the Foxton website.
