Driver smashes car into building on New Hall Lane before fleeing the scene

A road in Preston is cordoned off after a driver smashed their car into a building before leaving the scene.

Emergency services were called to the corner of New Hall Lane and Calverley Street at 11.15pm on Saturday (21 February).

They found that a car had been driven into a building but that there was no sign of the driver.

Police are investigating the incident and trying to trace the driver of the car.

A police cordon remained in place on Sunday afternoon (22 February), although it is Calverley Street that is closed to traffic rather than New Hall Lane.

Police do not believe that anyone was harmed in the crash but the building on the corner of New Hall Lane and Calverley Street has sustained damage.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information is asked to contact police 101 – log 1408 of 21st February.
