Preston Police’s presence has spread in the city centre, thanks to the newly expanded team.
As a part of the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, Lancashire Police have focused on strengthening their local policing presence in the city centre.
The newly expanded policing team now comprises four police community support officers, four police constables and one police sergeant.

Inspector Adam Pearson, from Preston’s local policing team, said: “We are committed to working closely with our partners and the local community to make sure that Preston city centre is a safe and enjoyable place to visit, work and live.
“This uplift in officers gives us even greater capacity to focus on the issues that matter most to you and to continue building a visible, proactive policing presence in the heart of the city.”
The move comes as police said crime figures in Preston city centre for anti-social behaviour and shoplifting had begun to fall in the festive period, due to more frequent and intensive patrols and operations.
But fear of crime remains high particularly amongst women in the city centre with a recent survey by the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner finding more than two-thirds of women feel unsafe at night in Preston.
