A number of volunteers have launched an eco-friendly refill shop and laundry service to support the local community and promote sustainability.
The Leyland Wade Hall Community Centre, a housing association in South Ribble, launched the new initiative to support their users.
They can use the washing machines, with their own detergent or can buy it at the community shops to support cost effective measures.

Funded by South Ribble Borough Council, the washing machines are to be used alongside their refill section, funded by Progress Housing Group’s Community Support Grant.
The space also allows users to fill up their shampoo, conditioner, washing up liquid, laundry liquid and fabric softener with an aim to reduce plastic containers.

Joan Musker, who leads at the community centre, said: “Our new community laundry and refillery not only eases the cost of living for local families but also champions eco-friendly practices, helping us all take small steps towards a greener future.
“We don’t believe any other community shops have any refilleries, so we hope to be a trailblazer for others to follow suit.
“We are grateful to Progress Housing Group and South Ribble Borough Council, as well as Mahoney Contracts, whose generous support makes these vital projects possible.”
