The Chorley 10K and 2K Family Run event is set to return to the town centre on Sunday 3 May.

The event, which has become a firm favourite for runners and families, starts and finishes in Chorley town centre and takes runners through Astley Park.

The Chorley 10K is a chip-timed race, with a two-lap course, starting at 10.30am, with minimum entry age being 15 years on the day of the race. The entry fee is £25, or £23 if a UKA Club Runner.

Runners must be aged four years and over on the day of the race to enter the 2K Family Run, which starts at 9.30am. The entry fee for the 2K run is £6.50 per entrant.

Competitors can run for fun or to raise money for their chosen charity should they wish.

All entrants will receive a unique medal at the finish line, and event organisers are inviting people to get creative and enter a competition to design the medals for 2026.

Spectators are encouraged to line the route to cheer the runners on, enjoy a variety of pre and post run entertainment starting at 9am in the town centre, plus the Wellbeing Village on Fazakerley Street packed with sports, fitness, health and wellbeing related organisations.

The 1498 Food and Drink area of Chorley’s covered market will also be open on race day for attendees to grab a bite to eat or drink, plus enjoy entertainment in the afternoon.

Hundreds have already registered for the event, which is organised by Chorley Council in conjunction with Fylde Coast Runners.

The event is sponsored by the Anderton Centre, part of the University of Greater Manchester group.

Dr Greg Walker, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Greater Manchester, said: “The University of Greater Manchester Group is delighted to support the Chorley 10k and 2k family fun run. “The University Group is committed to promoting health and wellbeing through our fantastic outdoor activity charity, the Anderton Centre, based in Anderton, Chorley, which offers a wide variety of exciting activities for people of all ages to get involved in.”
