On Sunday, 1 March, more than 700 members of Rock Choir filled the stage at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Newcastle, marking 15 years of the choir’s presence in the North East with a spectacular celebration.
The concert showcased the choir’s journey in the region, featuring a mix of chart-topping hits, feel-good pop anthems, and moving ballads. Under the guidance of Rock Choir Leader Rob Slater, who has led the North East branch for the past 15 years, participants described the evening as a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a highlight of their time with the choir.
Rock Choir Leader, Rob Slater Comments:
“Performing at The Glasshouse was the perfect way to celebrate our 15-year journey in the North East. Seeing so many members on stage, united by music, friendship, and joy, was incredibly moving. The energy in the room was electric, and the audience response reminded us why Rock Choir exists: to bring people together and create unforgettable experiences. I’m immensely proud of everyone who made it such a landmark celebration.”
The sold-out audience frequently rose to give standing ovations, clearly captivated by the performance. Rock Choir, founded by award-winning singer and musician Caroline Redman Lusher MBE, has grown into the world’s largest contemporary choir, with more than 33,000 members across the UK and Ireland, including around 1,000 in the North East.
