A Fulwood-based charity set up in honour of a Preston woman has announced a charity ball.

Mary O’Gara Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation set up to prevent youth suicide, will hold the event on Saturday 23 May from 7.30pm.

Including a welcome drink on arrival, a three-course meal, live entertainment, a raffle, and a silent auction, it will take place at Deepdale.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce the Mary O’Gara Foundation Charity Ball.

“This event is about coming together to support young people’s mental health, raise awareness and contribute directly to the Foundation’s work.

“We look forward to welcoming guests for an evening that we hope will have a lasting impact.”

The Foundation was set up in 2022 by Mary’s parents and family following her death in May 2020 during lockdown. She had been training to be a nurse and was 27 when she died by suicide.

Tickets for the charity ball are £60 and available via this link.

The charity will also host a family fun day at The Sherwood pub on the same day to raise funds.

Organisers are also welcoming support in the form of raffle or auction prize donations. Anyone able to contribute is asked to contact northendevents@sodexo.com.
