Preston’s new tram bridge will open to the public on Friday 22 May.
Construction work has been ongoing for the last two years on the new pedestrian crossing over the River Ribble.
Preston City Council has confirmed the new £8.2million bridge will be available to walk, cycle or horse ride over after a civic ceremony towards the end of May.

The 130-metre bridge is to be opened in an ‘opening event to recognise the contribution of partners and will involve a range of community groups across the city’.
No further details of the opening have been released at this stage.
As Blog Preston reported earlier this month final touches including major resurfacing of the Old Tram Road have been taking place ahead of the opening.
The Old Tram Bridge, which was demolished in 2024 after being declared unsafe and closed off since 2019, is a popular route connecting the South Ribble side of the river with Preston city centre and Avenham Park.
