President Cyril Ramaphosa has concluded his working visit to Spain, where he participated in the “In Defence of Democracy” initiative in Barcelona.

Ramaphosa reflected on the mounting global challenges facing democratic nations.

He also underscored the urgent need for collective action and renewed international cooperation.

“We gather here in Barcelona when the world is in crisis. This is a time of aggression, war, conflict, and destruction. The principles of solidarity, cooperation, and friendship are being challenged by the resurgence of narrow nationalism, prejudice, and intolerance,” says Ramaphosa.

“This may be a time of crisis, but this is not a moment for doubt or despair. This is a moment for action, for mobilisation, for renewal. We must advance peace through dialogue and diplomacy … and build a better, more just and more inclusive world. A global progressive revival is underway… and we must be part of shaping a better, more just and more inclusive world,” he adds.
