Garstang car rally travels 120 miles to raises funds for Rosemere

Members of a classic car group have raised £400 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation in a charity drive.

Pilling Old Car Club drove 32 vehicles from Garstang Booths to Bewby Bridge, on to Hawkshead and back.

A total of 120 miles was racked up, and the event was organised by members Mick Briggs and Paul Wilson.

Mick, who underwent successful treatment for prostate cancer at Rosemere Cancer Centre in 2023, drove his 1988 former British Telecom Austin Maestro van, while Paul was in an MG BGT.

Mick said: “Paul and I did a reckie, so we knew we had a good route planned.

“It was a good day with car club members paying an entry fee to join the rally to raise the donation. Some also gave extra.”

Since his treatment, Mick has raised over £2,000 for the charity.

Fundraising manager for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Sue Swire said: said: “Our thanks to Mick, Paul and everyone who joined the rally for this great donation. 

“Since 2023, Mick has raised £2,132.65 towards our projects through plant and cake sales and activities with Pilling Old Car Club. We are very grateful.”
