Music director Jon Aveyard said: “This is a friendly and accessible group that started about three years ago. No one had bell-ringing experience when they began, and several people in the group didn’t know how to read music.

“Together we have grown more capable and confident. We have performed several times at charity events, at Christmas fairs, for Blue Flamingo dementia café gatherings and as part of the Preston Jazz & Improvisation Festival.

“Our highlight was probably appearing onstage at The Ferret and playing the riff to Fools Gold whilst Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibrahim soloed alongside us.”

The group recently had to say goodbye to two of its original members as they left for grandparent duty.

Jon added: “Ours is a small group of about a dozen people, and we play using small, lightweight bells.

“We occasionally play alongside the Cottam Ukuleles and the Good Day Sunshine Recorder Group to form a mixed ensemble. Although we aim to make the best sound we can, it’s all low-pressure fun for those who want to take part.”
