The Free State Department of Agriculture has raised concerns over the continued failure by some livestock owners to report suspected cases of Foot-and-Mouth Disease.

This comes as 14 new cases were confirmed in the Boshof area in the west of the province, bringing the province’s total to 679 confirmed cases. The department says immediate reporting is a legal requirement and is critical to containing the spread of the disease.

Farmers are being urged to report suspected infections immediately and comply with biosecurity measures to prevent further transmission of the disease.
