Madlanga Commission evidence leader Advocate Adila Hassim has told the Commission that WhatsApp messages between suspended deputy head of Crime Intelligence Major General Feroz Khan and businessman Mohammed “Mo” Sayed point to a relationship involving financial benefit.

Hassim is reading evidence gathered against Khan into the record at the Commission.

The evidence indicates that Sayed sought Khan’s assistance in securing a South African Police Service security tender.

“So, this is sent on 15 June 2021 – the details of an IPID tender that has a closing date of 2 July 2021 for 66 guards. And just to close off on that security tender on page 5 9 9 4. On 17 June 2021, Mr. Said says, ‘just heads up, Symantec is the current incumbent with the SAPS security tender. They are our biggest competitor right now’.”
