AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has issued an apology following leaked video footage where he is seen shouting at one of his wives.
The video was allegedly recorded inside the royal household.
It captures an emotionally charged dispute where the Zulu monarch is seen berating his third wife, Queen Nomzamo Myeni, while demanding her departure from the palace.
In a statement, the royal household admits that the King’s expressions during the heated moment fell far short of the dignity, restraint, and decorum the nation rightfully expects.
The King acknowledged that his actions caused profound pain, disappointment and embarrassment to the Royal Family, amaKhosi and the amaZulu nation at large.
Acting spokesperson for the Royal household Inkosi Mpikayise Buthelezi says the King is not happy about the video leak.
“We believe that nobody was given the permission to film His Majesty. So far, the King has apologised to all the people and to the nation specifically to the leader of Shembe’s Ebuhleni faction which is uNyazi. His Majesty is so perplexed about the story. The King also apologises to everyone who saw this and even to Shembe members is also apologising to them.”
