Motorists heading back towards Preston from Manchester are being warned of disruption due to a closure.
The M61 to M6 spur is closed due to a ‘police-led incident’.
Lancashire Police said the motorway is closed from Junction 9 where it meets the M65 at Walton Summit up to the M6 junction.

There are delays of up to 10 minutes on the approach to the junction.

Traffic is being diverted off to join the M6 at Bamber Bridge instead via the M65.
Police remain on the scene with traffic officers from National Highways North West in assistance.
