National partnership housing specialist Lovell has been recognised for its continued support of Oasis Community Housing, receiving the charity’s highest award at its annual Black & Gold Ball.

Colleagues from Lovell’s North East team were presented with a Luminary Award by Oasis Community Housing CEO Sarah Gorman during a ceremony at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on Friday 22 May.

The Hope Honours awards were hosted by Oasis Community Housing to thank businesses and community partners for their support in tackling homelessness across the region. Lovell has supported Oasis Community Housing as its charity partner since March 2023, raising more than £57,400 for the charity, alongside £8,500 worth of volunteering and donations in kind.

It marks the third successive year that Lovell has been recognised for its contribution to the charity at the Black & Gold Ball, having received a Diamond Shared Value Award in both 2024 and 2025.

Over the past 12 months, Lovell has fundraised for Oasis Community Housing by hosting a charity golf day, entering teams in both the Great North Run and the charity’s annual five-a-side football tournament, and sponsoring its Gingerbread Street event for the second year running. The event forms part of Oasis Community Housing’s annual Giving a Home Christmas appeal.

Phil Jones, Director of Land and Partnerships for Lovell in the North East, said:

“It was a real honour to be presented with this award on behalf of all my colleagues who have given their time and energy towards fundraising and volunteering for this extremely worthwhile cause over the past year. We are naturally very proud to receive such recognition from the charity, which reaffirms our ongoing commitment to supporting their vital work and reflects the strength of the relationship between the two organisations.

“Our partnership with Oasis Community Housing is built on a shared belief that everyone deserves a safe and stable place that they can call home. The sad reality is that, for many reasons, there are many people in our communities who are either homeless or at risk of becoming so. This is why the work of Oasis Community Housing is so important. By providing support sessions, drop-in centres, outreach for people sleeping rough and accommodation services, it is offering hope and a pathway to a better future for hundreds of vulnerable people across the North East.”

Sophie Barker, Oasis Community Housing’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, said:

“Hope is at the heart of everything we do at Oasis Community Housing, and partners like Lovell help us to continue providing that support for people who often have nowhere else to turn. Lovell staff have continually shown a genuine commitment to our communities, from fundraising and volunteering to pro-bono redevelopment work in our supported accommodation for young people facing homelessness. This, our highest charity award, reflects how grateful we are for their ongoing support and we’re excited to continue working together this coming year, to make an even bigger difference for local people facing homelessness.”

The award highlights the strength of the partnership between Lovell and Oasis Community Housing, as well as the important role local businesses can play in supporting charities working directly with vulnerable people across the North East.
