Preston City Council has celebrated ‘Love Parks Week’ with a new project.
A trial to attract bees has been created through flower displays in sites across Preston.
The City Buzz project has shown success and is to expand into the 200 public open spaces that Preston City Council manage.

Trial sites included Blackpool Road Crossroads, Moor Park MUGA, Preston Prison, Hartington Road Courts, Billington Lodge Drive, Ribbleton Hall Ruins.
Councillor Connor Dwyer, cabinet member for parks and community safety, said: “City Buzz is a brilliant initiative, and I’m pleased most of the trial sites have succeeded and provided a welcome burst of colour in pockets across Preston by using mixes of native wildflowers grown by Parks staff at our own nursery in Avenham Park, along with floral displays created by pollinator mixes.
“As we steadily increase the numbers of native wildflowers in parks and open spaces, it helps to improve the management of our grassland sites.
“This is the start of a longer-term project, which raises awareness of the importance of pollinators, and brightens up the city with high-impact displays.”
Next year, the council plans to expand the City Buzz project with more areas to sow, plant, and manage.
The council will also select a range of sites that cover three key aims including community involvement, biodiversity, and brightening gateways.
