IMC on Migration to brief media on court judgement on asylum seekers

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Migration will on Sunday brief the media on the Constitutional Court judgment on asylum seekers.

The Apex court made a ruling that asylum seekers should be assisted at Home Affairs offices regardless of their status in the country.

The decision was implemented by the Home Affairs department but was met with violent protests, particularly in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

Home Affairs has since withdrawn the directive.
