Magistrates have ordered two vape shops in Morriston to close for three months following action by Swansea Council’s Trading Standards Team.

Officers had carried out test purchasing exercises at Morriston & Vape and Monsoon Vape, where undercover officers bought illegal vapes and counterfeit tobacco from both stores.

A Trading Standards Officer then made follow-up visits to both shops in September this year, accompanied by local police, and searches were carried out at five residential properties linked to the businesses. Counterfeit tobacco, illegal vapes and class B drugs were seized, along with a vehicle thought to have been used as a delivery vehicle.

Four people were arrested during the raid. Two were remanded in custody and two were bailed for future court appearances.

Trading Standards applied for closure notices, and magistrates approved three-month closures for both premises.

Andrew Williams, Cabinet Member for Development, said: “The latest closures are another great example of the work our Trading Standards is doing to disrupt and close down businesses that are operating illegally.

“It’s completely unacceptable for many of these vape shops to operate in the way they are, selling counterfeit goods, particularly to children.”

The closures follow other action by the council’s Trading Standards Team against the sale of illegal and counterfeit vapes and tobacco in the city. In June 2026, two vape shops in Pontarddulais and the city centre were closed after being caught selling illegal vapes, and three vape shops on Mansel Street in the city centre were more recently closed for three months. In October 2025, nine vape shops, including a number along St Helen’s Road, were forced to close by magistrates.

Cllr Williams added: “Most towns and cities across the UK have seen a steady rise in the number of vape shops opening. Our focus is to ensure these shops are operating legally and importantly, not selling products to children under the age of 18.”
