After releasing his 2021 hit single Peru, I’m sure fans of Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy, are expecting the heat as he is preparing to release his third studio album.

If a freestyle could catch global attention, resulting in a remix with multiple Grammy award-winning singer Ed Sheeran, what wonders will his forthcoming album perform on charts worldwide? Fireboy had a fantastic run in 2021. At the 2021 Headies, he took home five awards, including ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Best Pop Album’ and ‘Best R&B Album’.Within three weeks of Peru remix release, it has amassed over 50 million streams globally.

Wizkid also brought the heat in 2021 as his hit single ‘Essence’ featuring Tems and Justin Bieber peaking at Number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. His ‘Made in Lagos’ Album, released on October 29, 2020, crossed the 1 billion streams mark within 10 months of its release. He also won two NET Honours awards, including ‘Most Popular Male Musician’.

YBNL label boss, award-winning artiste Olamide, hinted at the collaboration, releasing images of the singer in the studio with Wizkid. Confirming the collab, Fireboy responded saying, ‘Another special one on the album,’. We can’t wait!

Fireboy and Asa

If you thought Fireboy was slowing down in 2022, you thought wrong! With the news of his highly anticipated third album comes a collaboration with award-winning singer Asa. These two artistes are known for their exceptional songwriting skills, which could be a recipe for song of the year.

Asa, whose real name is Bukola Elemide, recorded her first single, ‘Eye Adaba’ in 2007, followed with hit singles like ‘Fire on the Mountain’, ‘Bibanke’, ‘Dead Again’, ‘Jailer’ and more. Her 2011 album, ‘Beautiful Imperfections’, peaked at No.3 on Billboard’s World Music Chart. “The one with Asa is special”, Fireboy told his fans via his Twitter page, speaking on the collaboration, and we can’t wait to hear it.

Buju and Kizz Daniel

collaborations

Daniel Benson, popularly known as Buju, teased a collaboration with hitmaker Kizz Daniel on January 10, 2022.

Buju had revealed details to the highly anticipated unnamed song he was recording with Kizz Daniel on Twitter. He let his fans know, saying, ‘Kizz Daniel and I were recording, and he paused to sing, “as long as the Hennessy for my cup e never finish, wetin I feel I go talk am finish,” then says “Kilo ma n worry e boboyi?”

It’s no surprise that news of this collaboration is turning heads and gaining attention. In 2021, Buju’s partnership with Ladipoe on the hit single ‘Feeling’ amassed over 76 million streams globally. Kizz Daniel also had a great run in 2021. His EP ‘Barnabas’ went straight to No. 3 on the Apple music charts after its release.

Buju and Zinoleesky

artiste collaboration

Buju is on overdrive this year as we’re also expecting a remix of his single ‘Kilometer’ featuring Zinoleesky. Buju released a teaser of the video via Tik Tok on January 14, 2022.

In 2021, Zinoleesky amassed over 26.7M streams globally with the release of his single ‘Naira Marley’.  The artiste signed to Marlian records also released hit singles like ‘Kilofeshe remix’ ft Mayorkun and ‘Gone Far’ within the year. We can’t wait to see what these superstars have cooked up for us.

Victony and Burna Boy

collaborations

Victony came into the limelight after ‘Pray’ – a single he released after surviving a ghastly accident that led to his friend’s death in 2021.

The rising star, whose real name is Anthony Victor,  delivered a show-stopping intro on Mayorkun’s ‘Holy Father’. This cemented his place on the list of artistes to watch for in 2022. ‘Holy Father’ peaked at No. 1 on Apple Music Nigeria. It currently has over 12 million streams globally.

One of the collaborations no one envisioned is Victony’s collaboration with Burna Boy. The Grammy-winning artiste teased the unreleased single on his Instagram stories. We can’t wait to hear what the African giant and Victony have cooked up.

Olamide and Chike

collaborations

After the successful release of his debut album, ‘Boo of the Booless’ in 2020, Chike announced that he would release his sophomore album ‘The Brother’s Keeper’ on January 28, 2022.

Award-winning rapper Olamide shared a snippet of his verse on a single he recorded with Chike via his Twitter page on January 12, 2022.

In 2021, Chike’s hit single ‘Running (To You)’ featuring Simi peaked at no. 1 on Apple music charts in Ghana, Uganda, and Gambia. In 8 months, the song amassed 30 million views on YouTube and became the ‘Most Viewed Music Video of 2021.’

These artistes, individually, have performed well on charts in Nigeria and across the globe in 2021. Let’s see how well these collaborations turn out this year.
