The road closure was put in force during Thursday 16 January afternoon leading to gridlock across Grimsargh, Goosnargh, Fulwood, Broughton and Longridge as roadwork schemes in Longridge Road and Whittingham Lane in Broughton continued.

Some motorists said usual journeys of 15-20 minutes were taking two hours on Thursday afternoon.
The traffic congestion continued on Friday (17 January) morning throughout Grimsargh, Broughton, Longridge and Goosnargh.
The county council confirmed to Blog Preston, when asked if any existing roadwork schemes would be temporarily lifted to ease congestion, they were considering ‘temporary traffic measures’.
Matt Townsend, director of Highways and Transport at Lancashire County council, said: “There is a closure on this road between 16 and 22 of January. This is due to urgent work being undertaken by Electricity North West.
“We are looking into temporary traffic management measures whilst the emergency utility work is ongoing.”
Blog Preston has approached Electricity North West for comment.
Haighton Green Lane remains open from the Grimsargh side with the Haighton Manor pub and other businesses and homes still accessible.
Signs are up at the junction with Whittingham Lane and Brabiner Lane, and the D’urton Lane roundabout, warning of the closure.
The road was being used as a relief route by drivers trying to avoid existing roadworks on Whittingham Lane and Longridge Road between Fulwood and Longridge.
