A “high end” cafe bar could soon open in a former shop on Fulwood.
Under plans going before Preston City Council, the former Millercare unit on Lytham Road, between Fulwood and Plungington, is set to be converted to the new use.
Documents submitted with the application explain the new venue – close to the Withy Trees crossroads – would be refurbished to a “very high standard” and to include a bar area, a kitchen and an eating and standing area.

Once open, the kitchen will serve hot and cold food including a breakfast brunch from 11am, charcuterie boards and other premium snacks. The bar will serve “a host of premium wines and beers, mainly sourced from the Lancashire area”.
While it is acknowledged there could be some disturbance to those living nearby, it argued that impacts would be less than what was experienced while the neighbouring Withy Arms was open.
The application concludes: “The proposed change of use will benefit the area, similar to the recent introduction of other bars and restaurants along Garstang Road.
“The business will bring jobs, and a great new high-end venue to the area.”
