Nine-year-old Faye Handyside is set to complete running a total of thirty one miles to raise funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity.
Through August, Faye has undertaken a daily one mile run to give thanks to the staff at Fulwood’s Royal Preston Hospital, due to the care of her aunt.
By running 31 miles in 31 days for the charity, it remains close to their heart following her auntie’s three intense brain surgeries she has endured since the discovery of a tumour last November.

Despite currently living in Thirsk, Faye’s runs start from her grandparents’ home in Ribbleton, where her family has chosen to stay this summer to remain close to her 34-year-old Auntie Laura, following a hard number of months.

Faye’s mother, Leanne, said: “After Laura’s second surgery, Faye said she wanted to do something to help.
“Though Faye is more at home in the swimming pool or on the football pitch, she decided on a one-mile run every day to show her support for the amazing staff looking after her Auntie Laura.”
The Handyside family’s support has continued through raising £12,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support since March in both an ongoing coffee morning and a sponsored hike in the Lake District.
Currently over halfway through the challenge, Faye said: “I just want to say thanks to everyone who has donated and sent me messages every day. I am very grateful to everyone who has looked after my Auntie Laura.”
