A father-of-two living in social housing in Grimsargh has been left distraught after his home was hit with two floods so far in 2026.
John, 45, who asked for his surname not to be included along with that of his former partner, lives in a new-build Onward Homes property.
The family was initially distressed after coming downstairs in January to find several inches of water, completely soaking the carpet and damaging the furniture.

Blog Preston initially spoke with Laura, 42, who is the mother of the two children in January.
After Blog Preston contacted Onward Homes in January, repairs were made and the carpet was replaced. But that work has been quickly undone by a second flood from the same pipe that caused an issue in January.

And Laura, who lives in Plungington, said that no safety check has been done on the electrics in the property despite repeatedly raising concerns. Onward Homes contests this and says they have carried out checks.
She told Blog Preston: “He got up two weeks ago and the exact same pipe has burst and the exact same thing has happened. The plumber who came in to fix it the second time said that the pipe hadn’t been pushed in fully the first time.”
Rather than a permanent fix – such as replacing the pipe work – the issue has been resolved on this occasion by wedging it into place with a piece of wood.
She added: “It makes no bloody sense whatsoever.
“Nobody has been out since then to check his work and make sure it’s all okay. There’s only been contact with one housing officer in the three weeks since the flood.
“The new carpet has had to be ripped up so I’ve come up to help get on top of the house. They’ve had to live upstairs because there’s no carpet down.
“They didn’t send anybody to help dry out the property. Bearing in mind John is registered disabled. He’s had to do all the drying of the property himself.
“They haven’t checked the electrics despite visiting twice. They haven’t mentioned the electrics to us, not a thing.
“It’s a brand new house, this.”
Onward Homes said they will assess whether any further work is needed this week.
A spokesperson for Onward said: “We are very sorry to John for any distress and inconvenience that this has caused to him and his family. We carried out repairs after a leak earlier this year, however clearly this has not fully resolved the issue. After becoming aware of another leak, which was reported at lunchtime and we attended the same afternoon, there have been no further leaks. Essential safety checks to the electrics in the property were also carried out.
“We will visit John’s home this week to assess and organise further works to prevent this from happening again. We will continue to work closely with John until the issue is fully resolved and ensure he has the support he needs from us at this time.”
